Now we are ready to embark on our most creative year yet!
This year, Somewhere in the Sunshine is hosting our beginners' chalk paint workshops as usual. In addition, we will holding workshops to introduce you to the wonderful world of Iron Orchid Designs (IOD). Jackie Hoffman and I have been planning these workshop for the year ahead and we get more and more excited as the ideas and inspiration flow. IOD is relatively new in Australia, although stamping, moulding and transfers have been used for a long time in paper crafts and decoupage. These new products, however, are the next level in adding style and shabby chic to whatever your area of art, whether you are changing the look of your walls or just adding some shabby chic to your flower pots. These products are elegant with a touch of 18th century chateau!
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Introduction - $140
Saturday 12th January from 9am-1pm
This workshop teaches you the 4 basic techniques using chalk paint, familiarising you with brushes and wax. Bring a small piece of furniture to paint e.g. chair, picture frame or tray. Lunch and all paint/materials are included. Receive 10% discount on all paint supplies purchased on the day. (Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements)
Iron Orchid Designs with Jackie Hoffman - $150
Saturday 19th January from 10am - 2pm.
This beginners workshop will give you a basic understanding of the IOD products and how to use them. We will be learning how to use stamps on materials and will be stamping a tea towel. Silicon moulds are used with paper clay to make beautiful porcelain-like embellishments and we will be painting, stamping and moulding a book. Both of these are your gifts to take home.
Jackie is an extraordinary talent and has a unique way of seeing artistic possibilities. If you are interested in old wares and shabby chic, don't miss this opportunity to learn from the truly inspired and discuss with her any ideas you might have.
Lunch is supplied and a 10% discount on all IOD products is available on the day. (Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements)
Paint News:
Annie Sloan is sending out her three new Charleston colours really soon. She has designed fabrics to go with the new colours too, which is particularly exciting. I already have the two other new colours, Svenska Blue and the Chicago Grey, winging their way from Melbourne, ready to arrive any day now. Come in and get your new colour card if you haven't already. Testing out the new colours is so much fun!
